Almost twenty years after Rachel and Leah (1993), Achinoam Nini returns to the Israel Festival, together with her musical partner Gil Dor, in a premier performance marking the release of her exciting new album, based entirely on renditions of Israeli classics. The performance includes Bereshit, Yesh ey-sham, Makom le-de'aga, Zecharia Rachel, Hayu leilot and many other well-known titles.

The arranger and composer Ilan Mochiach is the musical director of the concert, which is accompanied by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.

Achinoam Nini, better known by her international stage name Noa, is one of the best-known Israeli singers in the world. Nini has collaborated and performed with leading names, including Sting, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola, Annie Lennox, Mercedes Sosa, and many others. She also gained fame when she performed before Pope John Paul II.
Achinoam Nini comments: "For many years, I only performed Israeli 'classics' very rarely. Now, after eight original albums and countless performances in Israel and around the world, I feel happy, confident, and ready to take on this new challenge. Gil Dor and I have chosen some of the beautiful and moving songs that have influenced us over the course of our own lives."

You can find this song on Noa's album "Eretz Shir" released in March 2011 by More Management (Israel)

Lyrics: Haim Heffer
Music: Sasha Argov
Arrangement- Ilan Mochiach
Translated by Noa

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep"
And on the first day god separated darkness and light,
And there was light!
And the brightest morning shone upon earth,
And then came the blackest of nights.
And there was morning, and there was evening, day one.

And on the second day, he created the sky,
The blue sky, as glorious can be!
The sky that burst forth from the water and ascended
To be spread so high above, for all to see.

And on the third day he created the land,
The valleys and mountains so high...
And he planted endless trees and grass and lovely flowers
Whose beauty was a feast to every eye..
And there was morning, and there was evening, day three.

And on the fourth day he created the sun
And the moon that rose into the night
And myriad stars, of fortunes to tell,
all spinning and sparkling light
And there was morning, and there was evening, day four
And on the fifth, sea-shells and fish under water,
Crocodiles lurking above...
And on the same day birds of wing took flight,
The eagle, the sparrow and dove..

And on the sixth day he made all the animals
Deer, wolf and elephant came!
And on that very day, man was born in his image,
the image and the glory of his name!
And there was morning, and there was evening, day six.

And Man made all animals bow
And Man tamed the earth with his plow
And Man made the wheel, without fail!
And Man on the waves he did sail!
And Man controlled steam as he grew!
And into the heavens he flew!
And he conquered the starts, did this Adam!
And then: he discovered the ATOM!

"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep"

And on the first day god separated darkness and light,
And there was light!
And the brightest morning shone upon earth,
And then came the blackest of nights.
And there was morning, and there was evening, day one.
And on the second day he created the sky,
The sky that burst forth from the water, so high,
And on the third day, the land came to pass,
And tall trees were planted, and flowers and grass,
And there was morning, and there was evening, day three.
And on the fourth, the constellations came to be.

And on the fifth day, under water life began,
And on that day the birds of wing rose flying from the land
And on the sixth day, he saw his work had been completed.
He rested then, for plans of making MAN had been deleted.

....and God saw that it was good..
