The campaign for the Afghan Presidential Election scheduled for August 20 has started in the troubled country. The election will be a dramatic event for Afghanistan, even as thousands of additional foreign troops are being poured into the country to battle the escalating Taliban insurgency. Our guest to discuss the situation is the President of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan Sayed Ishaq Gailani.

I do agree with you. But in my last statement, the key word was "may". So I wasn't incorrect in my statement. I simply did not fully explain my position. But yea, I do know its all about energy (gas/oil pipeline). Some call it pipelineistan!

No Afghanistan was invaded be cause of the control

of the central Asia - gas and oil reserves in Caspian region and future pipelines that would transfer them

Of course heroin export to Russia (30 000dead) and Iran helps lot CIA objectives , let alone that helps them to earn lot of money also

As bad as some may consider The Taliban, they stopped opium production in Afghanistan! Now, with western invasion forces occupying Afghanistan, poppy production feeds the entire world from that one country. Maybe one part of the reason Afghanistan was invaded may have been because they were TOO successful in stopping poppy production!
