Some less than stellar operators demonstrating precisely why it's sometimes hard to elmer new operators into the hobby. It's no wonder some people are not interested. Recording started around 6:00pm-ish on Sunday 10-9-2011. This went on for a solid hour. I just let the camera run.

  • 14.313 has been around since the 80s if not longer. its nice to listen to HF drama rather then going to 147.435 in L.A

Apparently so. It would seem that was the first time I was in the right place at the right time (or wrong place at the right time -- depending upon how you look at it) to actually hear the shenanigans on that particular frequency.

That being said, bad operators and other lid-like behavior isn't really anything new to amateur radio. We've all heard them at some point.

It's just not exactly behavior that's complimentary to the advancement of the radio art.

The "unnamed" Canadian is on 14.275. 14.313 is a problem, too, and they are all idiots.

  • @watershed44 Obviously you have your head so far up your rectum you can't hear what actually takes place on 14.313 in terms of the garbage and the vile digusting diatribes spewed fourth by the shame of Canada, VE7KFM. The idiotic masses of QRM'rs that flock to 14.313 daily do not represent the core group of HAM's who just wish to talk to each other in a normal fashion without being bothered by troglodytes like VE7KFM, N4TAT, etc... -VA3AWP

  • I'm new to SW listening but it seems like this behavior is confined to 14313 kHz - like it's providing an outlet for this kind of thing. Are there any other frequencies where stuff like this goes on?

  • there was a good group in 147.880 until they disappeared and in comes the fresh immature hamers and AMers

  • K3VR Brian Crow is also one of the worst Amateur Radio operators in the USA.

Write the FCC's Laura Smith and tell her to revoke his and N1FM licenses.

  • @n5syr1:

Actually N1FM is the instigator of this mess. I believe his name is Tom and is a retired police officer. Clearly he should know better.

  • I used to hear a lot of this same sort of b.s. back when I was an avid SWL in the late '80s. Sounds more like what you could expect from drunk CBers than from hams, but then again, I guess you sometimes get pretty strange birds on the amateur bands too.

  • Pointless behaviour.
