  • how do you respond to a still alarm? stills are emergencies occuring inside your own house. unless they were going to another house???

  • @farmtruck551 That's not what Still Alarm means in Detroit. I think Box alarm is full response and Still alarm is everything other than a full response.

  • @farmtruck551 In Michigan a still alarm is a call that is received at the firehouse directly. Which means the dispatcher does not call out that house. The house will call dispatch about the call. Meaning the bell (which alerts crews of a call) is still. Hence the name "Still alarm". I could be wrong but thats how our county is (Ionia Co.)

  • @DmcWorldCrafter I am 100% sure that's not how Dispatch does it. A Box Alarm is a Structure fire assignment. A Still Alarm is everything other than that.

  • @youidiot222 In Arizona a Still assignment is something like a brush fire or a dumpster fire...

  • Nice tiller.

  • who is the asshole getting on the engine late? what a dick!!!!!!

  • @farmtruck551 which would be another 3 engines, 1 squad, 1 ladder. and so on from there. We have the system already set up at the dispatch center so depending on our location of the incident, would choose which surrounding towns would be called for specific apparatus. Or we could strike a box specifically for a specific type of apparatus if we wanted. For example we could strike a box alarm for ladders, then we would just have a handfull of ladders called in. Thats just how we do it here.

  • @farmtruck551 It really depends on the department itself. They have it set up however they want it. For example here with my volunteer department it starts with a still alarm being a single unit, i.e. 1 engine, then a full still is our full house response. i.e. 2 engines, 1 squad, 1 ladder, 1 car. also 2 tenders(tankers) if its outside the city. Then from there if we strike a box, aka box alarm, it would send typically 3 engines, 1 squad, 1 ladder. then from there we could strike a second box

  • In my city a still alarm is any type of call through 911 or dispatch other than a medical.Box alarm is radio box signal of fire, still box is possible fire in structure that is alarmed and radio signal sent to dispatch center. I'm in rhode Island by the way.

  • @ArmyRescue2 Generally speaking, a still alarm is somthing that is alerted directly to the fire station..whether it's by phone, in person, or a unit driving down the road witnessing it directly (in most localities). In most departments, a downed wire would only be considered a still alarm if the call came directly to the station. If someone called 911 it would be a special call for a box, or if it was an alarm drop or smoke odor, reported fire, etc it would be a box call

  • The guy from Ladder 21 runs like a fairy.

  • Cool! One of the few tillers left in the D.

  • @DmcWorldCrafter I agree with this 100%
