i imagine that comedians breed closeness by having others subscribe to their viewpoint by being 'in on the joke.' seems to make sense, and it's probably why he's great at his craft.

@FJTOMMY1 Jon Stewart mentioned in an interview a few years ago with Oreilly (if I remember correctly) that he feels uneasy when the crowd is not laughing and so he uses the jokes to reduce that insecurity.

@FJTOMMY1 Larry talks (has to talk) about Paris Hilton and the like. Jon is the much needed gadfly that holds politicians' and journalists' feet to the fire. In a way, he's doing the job actual journalists should do, but are not doing. You wouldn't want him to quit doing what he does. And he can only do so exactly because he's having this small, independent show on Comedy Central.

Jon is right, CNN is bankrupt. Why would he wanna go there and embrace their mindless model?
