It automatically switches Chao every once in a while. I keep trying to switch it back to my Chao. That's why it switches so much.

my chao is level 70 everything and he beat everything in sonic adventure 2 but when i brought him in to sonic adventur dx, he couldn't even stand!!!

Just keep raising your Chaos stats. There's not much you can do otherwise.
