The Mitchell Center is proud to announce a bold new project from artist-in-residence Karyn Olivier. Using 10-15 billboards along the citys downtown freeways, Olivier will replace the usual advertisements with images of the urban landscape that would be visible if the billboard did not exist - the sky, trees, and buildings obstructed by the ads will now be revealed. Presented in collaboration with the Moores School of Music, DiverseWorks, and CBS Outdoor.
Olivier will also work with UH students enrolled in the Mitchell Centers IART course Mitchell Center Mentorships, taught by artist J. Hill, to produce individual and collaborative projects in the community.
