No. The 1986 Ford Taurus was ahead of its time. The Audi 5000 was ahead of its time. The Mercury Sable was ahead of its time. The Beretta was simply designed aerodynamically to ride on the coat tails of the Taurus's success.

My '96 Beretta has 55,000 miles on it with the 3100 V6...just hail damage :( and the white paintjob is peeling... I still love her though shes a great car :D

The problem with the Beretta isn't that its a terrible car, its really only a bit below average.

GM put so much money into the marketing of it as the special "L-Platform" (Corsica, Beretta) but it was really a purposeless, unnecessary addition at the time.The Cavalier and V6 Camaro fit the niche for this already.
