Correction: Beethoven!! It's from his 9th Symphony - a part of it called Ode to Joy. The basic arraingment used here is by Charlie Hall. The IHOP musicians added "I've got the joy" part and another part they do in Part 2.

At any particular time of history, the genre of religious or "gospel" music has often mirrored that of the world at that particular time. The difference mostly, is in the lyrics. Like "worldly" music how a song is perceived depends on the condition of the person listening to it. I believe God can speak to a person through a piece of music that you or I couldn't relate to. .

This is probably the first Christian hymn i learned....till today it still resounds in my heart time and time again....especially when I am down and out....it will always remind me that God has put this joy in my heart and the joy of the Lord is my strength....
