This kit from Revell was released not a very long time ago. I was surprised by the amount of detail and the quality this kit offers for about 25€. The assembly was straigt forward and almost no problems occurred. In my opinion it is one of the best kits of the last years and I can highly recommend this kit. It won´t be my last one for sure!

The Ar 196 was a shipboard reconnaissance aircraft built by the German firm Arado starting in 1936. The next year it was selected as the winner of a design contest, and became the standard aircraft of the Kriegsmarine (German Navy) throughout World War II.
The plane was loved by its pilots, who found it handled well both in the air and on the water. With the loss of the German surface fleet the A-1s were added to coastal squadrons, and continued to fly reconnaissance missions and submarine hunts into late 1944. Two notable operations were the capture of HMS Seal, and the repeated interception of RAF Armstrong-Whitworth Whitley bombers. Although it was no match for a fighter, it was considerably better than its Allied counterparts, and generally considered the best of its class.

  • Well you have convinced me to go and buy this kit,not built a model plane for years as I mostly build ships now.

Very nice job you have done, great work.

    Thanks.

  • @banshee5555 you would definately miss one of the best kits that are available at the moment :) i´m sure you will like the kit!

    happy modelling :)

  • You say that you used Revell colors 39 and 40 for the top camouflage. In the video the colors seem to be just right, but I just painted a pattern with the same colors (on a piece of plastic) and they appear a LOT darker......

Are you sure the numbers are correct ?

  • @telescopereplicator i´m to 100% sure that the paints are correct, the numbers aswell as the tones of the colours. i compared the colours and the camo scheme with depictions and pictures to confirm what the instruction sheet suggested. you don´t like it - well, i don´t care.

  • @888HamilkarBarkas888 Why are you rude? I only asked a question.........

I never said I didn't like it. Quite the reverse, actually, because I said the colors look just right, in the video.

And Revell is known for making (big) mistakes in their color guides. Quite often they are wrong. I know for sure, I have been modeling for over 35 years.

Maybe you made a typo.... Can happen. Happens to me too. No big deal. Easy to correct.

But I would have stayed polite and give a normal answer.

  • @telescopereplicator it wasn´t a polite answer you are right, it was a neutral answer where i stated that i don´t care about minor mistakes that some people might spot on my models, because i´m satisfied with the result, despite the things some people might critisise. you got me wrong here.

i know that revell sometimes makes mistakes, thats why i checked the information as i wrote above. i´m not a perfectionist, but build my models as good as i can. i think thats worth for some approval.
