The $ bonus is nothing new in sports, but grabbing taped bills off of a wall walks a weird line between degrading and cheesy.

I wouldn't knock the competiion without being there for the finals. They are really exciting and the crowd gets into it. The real genius is that the routes can be climbed in multiple ways. The climbers have to plan what destinations they want to make it to first, how to get there and how to focus limited energy. They could be points instead of money, but their is something viscerally exciting about the cash.

Yup, those are tens, twenties and fifties. Whichever climber wins gets all the cash that was missed by the other climbers.
