It's a year since the collapse of investment bank Lehman Brothers, which heralded the start of the global financial meltdown. The worst moments are behind us, says John Peet from the Economist magazine.

  • Lehman should not have the title all for itself, because they are all crooks. They should have all went under. It's sick but its the way of the wall street world; Steal a few million dollars go to jail: Steal a Billion dollars get a promotion and possible appointment to the Department of Treasury or White House.

  • Lehman were complete crooks. No amount of taxpayer bailout could fix the ponzi schemes they were running. They had to go bankrupt, to prevent detailed inquiry into the rackets they were running.

  • thats the way it has been for years if somone lost money on wall street they say oh well lets find someone else so we can use there money but they say the hell with you if they lost all of your money its all about greed and useing who they can to get what they want

  • End the Fed!

  • It's only going to get a lot worse from here on out. Lehman was just one of the unfortunate ones that were not in the banking inner circle to get bailouts fund like Goldman Sachs. Our economic problems started long before 2008. It only going to end when you get wall street out of main street and out of k-street.
