Support Pelican Bay SHU Hunger Strike - July 1, 2011

On July 1, 2011 prisoners in Pelican Bay State Prison's Security Housing Unit (SHU) in California will begin a Hunger Strike to protest torturous conditions. The call has been made for prisoners across the state and non-prisoners alike to participate and support this struggle to defend the rights of all oppressed people. This video provides some background to the creation of these torture cells and how they are used.
The prisoners initiating the call have been placed in SHU because they are considered members of "Security Threat Groups", because they have organized other prisoners, not because they hurt someone or broke any rules. The SHU is just one part of the ongoing war against Black and Brown people in the United $tates. MIM(Prisons) supports the self-determination of all oppressed nations. Stop Torture in Prisons!
