This song is about how the x-factor winner, Alexandra Burke is going with a cover of Hallelujah for her Christmas number 1. However, there's an online campaign to get Jeff Buckley's version of it to #1 instead.

  • Mitch Benn has a far better better voice that the majority of X Factor finalists and he is a screamingly funny song writier too. More power to his elbow.

  • Just brilliant...

"It's several degrees of wrong ..stick to Mariah Carey Songs....."

"You don't specify which version of it....do ya"

You've done it again Mitch Benn!

  • The only versions of this actual song are the original, Jeff Buckley, and Sid Vicious. And Sid's is actually very good, just him singing with piano, no nasally screaming or anything.

  • @xzienne I've heard that version, and I agree it's wonderful. But Rufus' voice just doesn't make me shiver to my core the way Jeff Buckley's does. Damned fine version nonetheless :)

  • I'm so pleased Mitch Benn complained about Cowell's desecration of Hallelujah!

  • Justin Timberlake could have stood to hear this warning as well. His is probably the worst version of the song I've ever heard.

  • Everyone bangs on about the Jeff Buckley arrangement, but to be frank, I prefer the Rufus Wainright arrangement. Simple, unostentatious, and hauntingly beautiful.

  • Incubus - no-one's said Jeff Buckley wrote it, I think most people are aware it was Leonard Cohen. Also, the version that Buckley sings which is the most well known is actually the rearrangement done by the awesome John Cale

  • Jeff Buckley didn't even write it ...

  • i just hate that we cant stop these tragedies from occuring in the first place, simon cowell and co should just die of shame

  • This is one of Mitch's finest - I think it's up here about three or four times over from different people. But I loved this one the moment I heard it. Shame the attempts to thwart that evil plan didn't work! (Even the Rage Against The Machine incident last year was only partially successful, the X Factor winner still made it to no1 the following week.)

  • @icequeenangel42

So true... I swear to god they're like a virus... Long Live Mitch and his Crimes Against Music (damn you Stillgoe!)
