The Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells, Texas, opened in 1929 lavishing guests with high style and mineral water with amazing healing powers. Guests including Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe performed in the 'Cloud Room' at the top of the hotel. The hotel closed in the early 1970's leaving many memories echoing in the halls of this grand hotel...many folks think there is more here than just memories. What do you think?

  • Thank you for the great video! It is a shame that one the richest woman in the world can not see the beauty and opportunity to help Mineral Wells. Right in her own town! Mineral Wells could be a wonderful weekend town and the Baker Hotel her queen

  • who is the woman you are speaking about? i don't know much about the community. it has been years since i have been out there

  • I have been fascinated by that old place since I was a kid, now my kids have to walk around the perimeter, peeking in the windows every time we visit. What I wouldn't give to have a peek inside.....

  • Jane Catrett used to manage it. But I don't know if she is still around. The hotel is quite dangerous nowadays. I have not been in it for years. It is sad to think it is in such disrepair.

  • You did a great job filming putting this short documentary together. Is there a longer version or is this it. I am going to write you with some other questions.

  • This was produced for a news station in dallas so it is short format.

  • I think the Baker Hotel should either demolished or redecorated cause its such a mess now! 😔

  • I'm from Graford, but every time I go to Mineral Wells I always think to myself how awesome it would have been like to have been around to best years of The Baker. Right now I would give anything just to go inside and walk around and look at it from the inside, and maybe get myself lost in it. I may not have any memories of it, but I would sure love to make some. To say I was inside The Baker and explored it from top to bottom would be the greatest memory I could have.

  • I also would like the hotel saved. I have an idea that would save the hotel and history. I am in no means a rich man, but why don't all the ones that want it restored and make it an investment and all make some money in the process as investors put what money we can afford maybe invest as. Low as a dollar to as much as one can afford and do this. I think there are enough people in this state to make it happen. Dollars add up and may take a while but look what it use to be and the famous people

  • @NEXTEDGEVIDEO Alice Walton

  • i desperately want the baker hotel to be saved. i did actually go inside and id give all the money to fix it up if i had it.

  • I hope this hotel was saved, and I thought I read that it had been. Too many of these historical places are destroyed and with it a history of the land goes with it. Save it! Ghosts and all. It's a part of our history!

  • i live here in mineral wells

  • @NEXTEDGEVIDEO it seems like jane may have died she was my only info to the hotel she will be missed

  • Why should Alice sink millions into a money pit. It's too far gone to fix and I'm sorry but Mineral Wells is just a red neck hick town poor town full of drunks and biggotts

  • My father lived in and was born in mineral wells untill he was 17 i visit there many times a year and wonder why the Air to the Walmart fortune wont fund the restoration to this beautiful landmark.
