Have you tried CHDK to make your videos even better? It's free, but you need a 2gb SD card at FAT32, so not sure it would last long with full 720p, but if you have a 2gb SD card, it could be worth trying out, but dang, this look nice for a point and shoot. I have the SD400 and "really" need to upgrade, so this caught my eye big time.

@HostileHST No, I haven't tried the aftermarket hacks yet. I've since sold this camera to a friend of mine so I no longer have it, and kinda miss this little guy.

The above software requires a relativesly modern (in the last two years) video card from either NVidia or AMD, perferably Nvidia.

Its about 9x faster then using the CPU for decodng/encoding, I was happily shocked by the performance increase.

I would love those $30k HD cameras.

I tried a few cameras at BestBuy.

1080 resolution cams from Canon and Sony.

The Jello effect is gone in the 2009 models.

But for those who have slow computers or software players that don't use OpenCL, it seems like the jello effect is still present.

LoiLoScope video editor or Corel WinDVD uses OpenCL and avoids the jello effect.

I am interested in cameras that work well in low light and has descent battery life. Small lens makes a dig camera bad.

HD camcorders are still in its infancy. Unless you are investing in pro HD cameras, the consumer line is still pretty green.

The rolling shutter effect or "jello" look in fast panning or action vids is the Achilles heel of CMOS sensor based video capture systems.

Battery life is something camcorders never did very well at. The LCD display needing to be on all the time to see your vids doesn't help either.
