"Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" was an unsuccessful project in 1999 to resurrect the classic 70s TV series in a sequel with a more dramatic and serious point of view. Richard Hatch has the leading role and was the executive producer and co-writer of this 4-minutes-long short made as a trailer.

  • I think it shows that the 'trump' cards of 'what if' are rarely shown. "Galactica" was framed in so many ways... I think it never really had a chance in the banality of network television. I have had an 'on and off love affair' with science fiction and it never really reaches the place where I find that it is done very well. You have a choice, stuff that goes to your soul or 'guilty' pleasures... this series had both; which makes great entertainment.

  • What a damn shame that this never came to be. Richard Hatch obviously had his finger on the pulse of the fans! It looks, and feels, like the original series (Galactica 1980, aside) with updated FX. Very cool to see that John Colicos would have came back as Baltar, too! I applaud you, Mr. Hatch, for your valiant attempt. Too bad the studios didn't share your vision. Thank you for your effort, sir!

  • Richard Hatch is the real Captain Apollo

  • I heard of this a long time ago when Richard Hatch tried, by himself, to get BG back up. He made a film, I guess this is it, to show only to producers. He failed to convince them and that was the end. I read that the film was never meant to be seen by the public. It should have been. Richard would have gotten a legion of fans to back him up. Compared to the new BG, I really miss the old stuff. At least it had heart and actors!

  • I had heard about this a long time ago when Richard Hatch took it upon himself to try and get BG back up. He had made a film but only showed it to the 'powers that be' and never meant it to be released tot he public, so it was said. It's a shame this didn't make public at the time, he would have had a huge group of fans helping him out in convincing whoemever needed convincing that it would have been at least money maker if not a great show (or just movie)

  • I never heard about this until today, now why didn't THIS version come out instead of that shitty new battlestar galactica series?

  • Wow.. I really hate to say this, but given what an awesome job I think Ron Moore did with BSG, I'm glad this never made it off the ground. Ron's rendition may never have come to pass. I've watched the entire series three times now, and I still get chills up my spine with certain scenes. The man is a genius.
