Why would you take the magazine out of the weapon after you have isolated the threat at a safe distance and yes there is going to be a round in the chamber ALL he has to do is squeeze that trigger finger.

that's a good technique as long as the attacker holds the gun straight up to your face and expects you to raise your hands because he said something like "put 'em up". when he's 2 meters away, you need several other....methods
