Showtime's earliest logo was a TV screen embedded in a sphere, that looked a little bit like the CBS eye. It depended a lot on this logo rather than the "Showtime" name, which seems like an afterthought in these clips...

A short animation with the Showtime Sphere, then a promo for "Modern Problems". Note the extensive use of the Sphere, which even extends to chyrons...

  • The music is from the fantasy sequence in "9 To 5" which they played a lot at that time. Ha! Thanks for posting, love these things, I still have a lot of the guides
