You have to be incredibly stupid to blow up a monitor. Monitors contain hazardous materials (large quantities of lead, phosphorous, cadmium, barium, and mercury).
Burning of the monitor will cause the hazardous materials to be released into the surrounding area. The toxin-bearing smoke will eventually find a way to you and be absorbed through your lungs, mouth, eyes, and skin.
The guys in this video will likely develop respiratory, pneumonitis, and neuropsychiatric problems as they get older.
