Eternal Darkness Walkthrough, Part 5 - Suspicions of Conspiracy: Anthony's Chapter, Pt 1

Anthony's chapter page can be found by properly lighting the candles on the table in the Secret Study. The cutscene that follows will reveal the Ancient that Pious serves. In this walkthrough it is Ulyaoth, but the Ancient will depend on whomever Pious chose.

Anthony's chapter has always been a favourite of mine. He is sent to deliver a "cursed" scroll to Charlemagne. Unfortunately for Anthony, the curse is cast on him, which slowly turns him into a Zombie.

After walking up a staircase in a small church, Anthony will enter a strange area full of screams, known as the Hall. The Tome of Eternal Darkness can be found at the end, and most characters from hereon out will pick up the Tome from this area. Since Anthony has a Tome, and since there are some Runes here, Anthony will learn the first magick spell: Enchant. This spell allows you to fix broken items and also power up your weapon.

Casting Spells is simple. The game has a tutorial on it too. Spells require certain Runes. Runes are deciphered via the Codex stones found throughout the levels. Spell Scrolls can also be found, however they are not required to actually discover a Spell, which can be done in the Tome. If you pick up a Scroll and have all of the necessary components, you will automatically learn the Spell. The power of a spell also is determined by the Circle of Power. Anthony finds a Power of 3, whereas later characters will find powers of 5 and 7. Spells can also be cast under each of the Ancient's essences, although Anthony will find whatever Essence is not Pious', and is not stronger than Pious'.
