Something big this way comes: Beached Blue Whale in Ventura

A 70-ft blue whale died and beached Friday, Sept. 14, 2000 on Hobson Beach Park a few miles north of Ventura, CA. I went down with my son to look at it pretty amazing to see a creature that large. Oh, the smell... Some deterioration was other sea life munching on it, the larger wound on it's belly was from an autopsy performed on the beach. As I said it was measured at 70 feet, blue whales can reach 110ft. Imagine what that would look like.

A lot of people are upset that people are taking pictures instead of rescueing it. I'm pretty sure it died, then floated to the surface, then floated to shore, and finally was beached by the waves. If it was a live beached whale though all those people together couldn't budge it one inch.

Thats Incredible. Beautiful. Large animals like that remind of what pehistoric animals might have been like. But the average moron there was probably like "Whoa man duuuuhh musta like died maaan."
