My experience has been that the people who have lead the most fanatical life make the most fanatical Xians. If an outta control drug addict that has been in prison, with bastard kids running around, never held a job, etc, becomes a Xian, they will become the most fanatical Xian.

There are less religious freaks where I live but yes, they are disturbing to me also. If they exist in a relative minority they are essentially harmless unless you happen to have some who are your parents. All you really need is a fly swatter.
In larger swarms they can be dangerous because they can and do influence public policy and other social and political institutions.

I was totally shunned and shut out by my fundamentalist pentecostal family. And as if that was not bad enough, they then tried to tear down and smear me to my friends (didn't work). They told all sorts of lies about me around the neighborhoods in the small town. Yeah, they're sick, and they do SUCK. I can still hear one niece screaming at me "You need Jesus! You're a sinner woman!" :(
