And Cindy Lauper, wow, you know your stuff! You are made of and completely know...true art. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you for giving America a taste of Brel's spirit through a piece of yourself by doing this song.
And just like Jacques Brel, you yourself ARE and always will be an ORIGINAL, TRUE, and REAL LEGENDARY ARTIST.
Merci Cindy, xxoo's to you.

@ nannabanna you absolutely are RIGHT!! C'est totally a remix/tribute/lovelyremake of the song Ne Me Quitte Pas by the one and only and very ORIGINAL, ahead of his time...
Le Merevieux ....JACQUES BREL!
God rest his soul. His words, intense emotions, stories, and daring raw truth...deep, vulnerable, soul stirring, and often bitterly funny, or totally humorous....but always REAL. His songs, WERE and STILL, continue to be a gift to the world of music. May he rest in peace.

@elajiera Holiday was not particularly deep either. But we have to remember Cyndi is a singer. Madonna is a performer - a dancer who happens to sing. That gave Madonna the edge over Cyndi, that and her provocative personae.
Frankly, I think Annie Lennox (when she was in the Eurythmics) was far more experimental and innovative that Madonna and Cyndi combined - musically speaking.

@allegrafi Madonna is a lot more daring and experimental and pure than cyndie ever would be. Of course its always kind of "in" to stick it up for the underdog. Listen to Madonna's American Life, Erotica, and Ray of Light, to find this out yourself, and then you'll realize that there's absolutely no way this cyndie is as smart and talented in seeing what real brilliance is. Cyndie screwed it up herself. "girls just wanna have fun", is it that deep? Please.

@freshair3451 who are you to say such a beautiful thing?

@allegrafi I don't think it's arguable. It's obvious to look back that Madonna was one of a few who cribbed off Cyndi's personal style.
She had the unfortunate timing of coming out when Madonna was popular... She was overshadowed, even though she arguably had a much better voice and more interesting songs.
