On August 17, 2010, University of Georgia graduate student Jacob Lovell e-mailed a complaint to UGA Parking Services concerning limited scooter parking. Although Parking Services specifically asks students for both "negative & positive" comments, Lovell spent nearly a month under the threat of punishment after submitting his complaint.

  • 1:21 god damn brilliant piece of comedy

  • @dskillz1 Sure. He could have written something clearer and more succinct. Still, his message and meaning were misconstrued by people who should have known better. His rights were indeed violated; his freedom of expression turned into something tenuous. I'm sure that the charges also produced anxiety in this student (not a burden any grad student should be carrying).

  • Hat tip to Jacob Lovell for standing up for his rights! Nice video!

  • FIRE is great, but dude could have easily written a better letter. C'mon.

  • Total Win!

  • I'm so glad you're making these videos. FIRE's an awesome organization.

  • He brought this on himself. In no way was the letter threatening, but it was quite rude. I can understand frustration, but when trying to get something done in a civil manners, swearing will not help you or anyone else. Their response wasnt any better though, so I am not sticking up for anyone at all. Maybe next time, he will use responsibility when writting a letter to an official. Whats the old adage? You get more flies with honey than....... vinegar.
