Unai Aranzadi (independent documentary filmmaker) was the first journalist in the world with access to the Mackenzie FOB in Samarra.
For the very first time, a reporter with a videocamera filmed a combat unit in their 5 days walking patrols. Some of them died during the recording of this documentary, others got injured and most of them came back alive.
It was october 2005, when Iraq was almost empty of foreign journalists. In this extremelly hostile environment, Unai Aranzadi found a virgin territory to document the truth of the frontline, in which soldiers and snipers say that they will kill any one to survive and that they
don´t believe in their patriotism and mission any more.
Unai Aranzadi has been 6 times in Iraq. He was the first journalist in the world who got an embed position in the Irai Army (inside the wild Sunni Triangle)and the first spanish reporter who went embed with the US Army.
