After the castle, there was time to walk around Cesis/Cecis, one of the oldest towns in Latvia, with ancient wooden houses still remaining. St. John's Church, sanctified in 1284 and the very picturesque Cesis/Cecis Brewery from 1878. This brewery is the oldest brewery in Northern Europe and is believed to have been founded in 1590! Unfortunately, we could only see it from the outside.
The leaves were just beginning to change in Sigulda and visitors come from all over Latvia in Autumn to see the colors. Instead of three churches in one day, there would be three castles in one day. One down, two to go!
