I thought Joe joining The Mafia selling out was brilliant storyline wise, because Sting and Kurt Angle had been having their issues. Also, The Mafia hadn't really found their killer. They have their technical, powerful/strong guys, but they were still missing their assassin killer guy and that is what Joe is. Plus, he fits the Mafia rule. World Champion. And has been a main eventer.
