Finalist Stephanie Crossno of the Mottino Family YMCA speaking on Saturday, June 11 at the 18th Annual YMCA of San Diego County Ruth Lane Charitable Foundation Public Speaking Contest.

The YMCA Public Speaking curriculum is taught in YMCA after-school programs throughout San Diego County. These programs are funded through education & safety grants received through local school districts, parent fees & YMCA Annual Support Campaign donations.

There are more than 10,000 youth involved in the YMCA after-school programs & this year more than 1,000 young people received public speaking training through this program. They participated in a comprehensive curriculum based on the Toastmasters International model. The lessons covered specific elements that assisted the youth in preparing their speeches as well as delivering them.
