Very intstructive as to the nature of war. They never reach the first lline of German trenches, and I think, that in the entire movie we never see a single enemy soldier. Yet we watch scores of men being killed. Kubrick is called a genius. That is what you may be called if you are not stupid and you wish to tell the truth.However, in America today, being what America is today, you may be riviled and shunned.

War Horse, Paths of Glory, Passchendaele, Joyeux Noel and Gallipoli are my favourite world war 1 films. They all show the innocence of every side and the futile human cost of it all

People who slag of french military history, KNOW fuck all about military history, stop making twats of yourselfs and go read up on how they dominated europe for so long, and how they have some of the greatest generals and leaders in history, im british and they were englands most feared rivals for most of our history, i totally respect them
