David Madir has lost count of how many people he has seen die.
But it's the death he didn't see that disturbs him the most.
As a boy, he cared for cattle a day's walk from home. When rebels attacked the villages of Sudan, he ran. His family fled, but in a different direction.
His father died. He has not seen his mother since he was 9. He is 29.
David is one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. He lived in a refugee camp in Ethiopia for four years. Every day he woke at 2 a.m., walked seven hours to find trees and grass to cut to build huts, then walked back.
Then rebels came and shot everyone they saw. The refugees fled. At one point, the choice was to cross a raging river or be shot. The current swept entire families away, churning them with whole trees.

  • @AiedailWest REALLY? he just watched tons of ppl die, including his family, and ur complaining abt his speech? hes not used to the language English, considering he just moved to the USA a few years ago, and b4 that, he had spoken African... he went on a tough journey (WHEN HE WAS 8!) where he watched his friends get carried off by lions, where he had to hide in the morning and continue on his journey at night, where he had to eat LEAVES in order to not die and your complaining ABOUT HIS SPEECH?
