The Battle of Tsushima (Japanese: 対馬海戦, tsushima-kaisen, Russian: Цусимское сражение, Tsusimskoye srazheniye), commonly known as the Sea of Japan Naval Battle (Japanese: 日本海海戦, nihonkai-kaisen) in Japan and the Battle of Tsushima Strait elsewhere, was the last and most decisive sea battle of the Russo-Japanese War of 19041905. It was fought on May 2728, 1905 (May 1415 in the Julian calendar then in use in Russia) in the Tsushima Strait. In this battle the Japanese fleet under Admiral Heihachiro Togo destroyed two-thirds of the Russian fleet under Admiral Zinovy Rozhestvensky. Historian Edmund Morris calls it the greatest naval battle since Trafalgar.[1] It was the largest naval engagement of the pre-dreadnought battleship era.

The Battle of Tsushima was the only sea battle in history in which steel battleships fought a decisive fleet action. In addition, much to the Russian Navy's credit, Admiral Rozhestvensky's battleship fleet conducted a voyage of over 18,000 nautical miles (33,000 km) to reach the Far East.

  • Great video!!----but at the end of the sountrack the music changes to a more subdued paste. Is this from the same soundtrack (Red October)

  • @bmorebum no, is from the Gladiator soundtrack!

  • What's the music?

  • The music is from the soundtrack of "the Hunt for red october", it's called the hymn to red october, but it was a song of the Soviet navy

  • remove this shitty pseudo-russian opera soundtrack!

  • All hail the Imperial Russian navy.

  • @TheTokit sadly, not so perfect anymore. she's in pretty bad shape: her hull is rusting out.

  • @Klemahun ah yes, the utterly naive and ineffective Romanov dynasty of Nichloas II, which saw Russia go from a World power to an economically destroyed and militarily weak nation within 20 years. Long Live Admiral Kolchak! White Russian Power!

  • It was the Baltic Fleet that sailed around the world to reinforce Port Arthur, not Pacific Fleet

  • yes soviet is lose but is revenge take the Japon island after ww2 soviet boots never gone.

  • Jerzy Wołkowicki was one of two Polish generals who survived Katyń massacre. NKVD officers pushed Him out of van (They knew who He was). At the end of Tsushima battle J.W. railed younger officers against capitulation and demanded to use all ammo, then blow up ship and escape.

  • No no no
