Bahamian Box and Moon Jellyfish. The Moon Jellys are generally harmless, although some people are sensitive to them or possibly allergic, so always be careful. They are quite lovely; the box jellys are another matter....I understand they have a nasty sting.

  • he shall be mine, and i shall name him Squishy, and he shall be my Squishy!

  • @tazmon122 That's funny.

  • @Freedive101 he's quoting a cartoon.

  • @user99673 yes, I know. From Finding Nemo.

  • This is one of the reasons I believe we (humans) don't belong in the ocean, or beach. There is some dangerous stuff in the ocean, not just jellyfish, but things like sting rays, eel, to name a few. I'll still go to the beach, but I rarely go in the water. Salty, sandy water isn't for me anyway.

  • @phattieg well, you probably are in more danger riding in your car to the beach than getting in the water. There are many wonderful things in the ocean that you wouldn't get to see...if you don't get in there. I've had my family in the ocean from an early age...my thought is that you can teach respect...it is very difficult to unlearn fear.

To each his own though.. so I respect what you're saying...but Salt water is definately for me. The ocean heals me...

  • @UndeadDraco Some species are extremely dangerous. Australia has a tiny one called Irukandji which can can kill, and another - Chironex fleckeri which is very dangerous.

The ones in this video are from the Carribbean - probably carybdea alata (sea wasp jellyfish)...not killers to my knowledge unless you're allergic to them but I am sure they deliver a potent sting....thus the gloves.

  • he crazy playing with a box jellyfish bitch

  • I want a Box Jellyfish now.

  • @phattieg you can get special electrical guns to use on sharks that stuns them temporarily and most of us can't get a hold of a real gun anyway and lakes in florida are just as dangerous as the sea... alligators :P

  • @DeathKitty123456 Well, lets see, I can shoot a lion, or a bear, and I can step on a spider, but I can't out swim a shark, or anything else in the ocean for that matter. And last time I checked, guns don't work too well in water. :-) Just saying. To each his own, and for me, I will chill AT the beach, but not IN the beach. But I live in Florida, we have plenty of lakes. :-D

  • @phattieg if we didn't belong in the sea because of dangerous animals we belong nowhere, there are dangerous animals on land too! Lions, bears, venemous spiders, the lot! :)

  • @Freedive101 Well, consider this. I live in Florida. Ever had sea lice? They suck. Getting out the water with gritty sand chaffin your ass, nah. I'll hijack a hotel pool in a hot second while I'm at the beach. I will walk the shores, and usually get knee deep. I'm not phobic of the ocean or anything. I just know what it's like to get stung by a jelly fish. I've also stepped on shit that's stabbed me in the foot.. No idea what it was. Needless to say I wear those aqua shoes now, lol.
