  • under god was added during the red scare, or the communist scare to denote that the US was different then the communists, who were seen as godless and evil.

  • Wow! So profound because the meaning and importance of our pledge is so true.

  • When Red Skelton was a boy the words "under God" were not part of the pledge. Listen CLOSELY to the last few sentences. These words were added officially on June 14, 1954 (Flag Day). I remember learning the change when I was in grade school.

  • It is a darn shame that "under God" is left out. Cause America is the best country by God's grace. "One nation, UNDER GOD, with liberty and justice for all."
