American student reads "Ночь, улица, фонарь, аптека" by Blok

had to memorize it for my Russian language class

I don't think my phonetics are right, and I cringe when I hear myself say "Умрешь -- начнешь"

help would be lovely!

Your phonetics are perfect. Умрешь -- начнешь are good. And soft consonants sound great which I hardly expect to hear from an eng. speaker.

Try to roll r, and you'll sound perfect. (sorry for my english)

@FameThrowa11 I didn't say "try untill you succeed" :) What I meant was just a try would do. Russian rolling r differs from e.g. a spanish one. It's not that emphasized. In fluent speech it takes two or one touches of tongue to a palate to sound pretty native imho (near exactly the sound of 'tt' in 'gotta' when you say it really quick, if i'm not mistaken).
