  • I have a 1776 in my 73 super and hate those duel carbs they run totally awful I'm looking for a good 2 barrel with choke.

  • @TTopTABandit that sucks, they work perfect for me! This car with no chokes starts totally fine in 20*F weather.

  • @TTopTABandit what's the fuel pressure set at?

  • Wow your nice Beetle started with just one pump of the gas! I like that exhaust set-up, it's unusual. I've driven on Hwy 401 before, from Windsor to London, then to Toronto, not much has changed along it! I'd stop for Timmies, too! (:

  • @JSneaker Thanks! Ya this thing starts really good considering it has no chokes. Where are you from?

  • @666elcam Hi Sir, I am from Long Island, NY(NYC 'Burbs). My trip was way back in August 1993! Last time in Toronto was 1997, sadly. I miss it so... I love watching pumping-to-start cold-start videos. I've seen "scary stuff" shoot out form old Beetles' tailpipes!

  • @JSneaker you'll have to get a beetle, shoot some fire and come back!

  • I used to have A Mexican Rug the same as you have in the Back Seat. My Ex-Girl threw it away. Otherwise a nice Bug. Its a Bit Old, A Bit Rusted but not Busted. These cars were made to run forever. I own an original 1968 Bug ,the older it gets the better they run.

  • Ahhh. You must be close to Detroit.... Drew and Mike on the radio!

  • where u live? im a londoner

  • @666elcam lol there is no setting it's what ever pressure the mechanical fuel pump makes. It's not fuel injected.... I've had 2 VW guys that restores these things work on it they can't get it to run right at all. The stock 1600 that was in it ran great just had no power what so ever and finally spit a rod through the bottom of the block. That's when I had this 1776 built with the twin carbs and hate it it runs terrible the car has been sitting for months now because of it.

  • @666elcam I don't know but if it's not 70 out my car don't run and even then you have to let it run 20 minutes before it will try to take gas and even after it's totally warmed up you have to slowly ease into the gas or it just falls on it's face and dies. There coming off ASAP as soon as I find a good single carb and intake!

  • love the interior looks original dont ever change it.looks like a nice drive to do in a beetle.

  • How do these things knock up for safety and overall road performance? I'm hopefully going to get one for my first car (I'm 17), but I'm looking at the later model (1300; 1974). Not sure whether they're the same in terms of road performance, but I was just wondering :). Also, what's the sound system like in it? Thanks if you can answer, and have a great Christmas ^_^
