On this video I took in January 1991 is the Icelandic longliner Sighvatur GK in very hazardous circumstances in the entrance to Grindavík harbour. In South and Southwest storm huge swells are coming from the Atlantic ocean and when they reach the shallow water at the coastline they break and at that moment they are very dangerous to ships.
Many ships have not made it through this channel and lives have been lost. In 1991 you had to follow a narrow channel in the rock below. You can see the ship taking a steep turn in 3:18 to follow it.
Today this channel has been dug out and made straight for easier access.
