  • The original old English name for fighting dogs was docg, then dogge, then ban dogge this can still be found all over the world with dogs bred from original English dogs, such as dogge de Bordeaux or dogo argentino. People have tried to recreate ban dogs, ban in old English comes from the Saxon word meaning leash, these dogs were leashed in the hunt for game then released to hold or pin the prey.
