@yelnatswaltuo it's a truly wonderful place, i hope you enjoyed it during your training. Plus its kind of neat, because George Bush Senior Recieved his training at NAS Grosse Ile!
Most people think Grosse Ile is one of the dead end slivers of Detroit, but our town is a great place, with a rich, beautiful history. Also Grosse Ile is Kid Rock's favorite place to visit, he even owns a cottage on the island. A lot of people don't know about Grosse Ile, but the ones who do think its a wonderful place. Also the NASGI (Naval Air Station Grosse Ile) was featured in the book series: Images of Aviation. GO GI!
Despite Michigan's many woes, trials and tribulations (not the least of which is its rampant obsession with jingoism and provincialism), Grosse Ile has remained one of the state's most treasured assets and is indeed a pleasure to visit. Well done!
Shannon thanks for the mention of NAS Grosse Ile. I served there and helped close the base. I was treated so well by the people of GI that I have always felt it to be my 2nd hometown.
Grosse is a beautiful place. I am there mostly in the summer. And thank you for showing a beautiful picture of my parents boat at the 1:51 mark, and the wonderful video.
