I disassembled as per video to reseat my LCD cable from the NO POST code Num and Scroll light flashing Caps solid. Once assembled system only attempts to power up on battery only, AC no longer from what I can see is supplying power to motherboard, I didn't touch anything remotely around where the AC cord plugs to the motherboard. Any ideas? Still have black screen with same flashing codes, does it sound like video card replacement time as now possibly a motherboard? Any info would be greatly ap

@Britishdude1 Hey do you know if there's any difference between the R1 and R2 keyboard? Would a keyboard protector for the R2 fit an R1?
-
Can anyone tell me how to tell if I have an R1 or R2?

Ram looks a little weird... take it you can't just buy any old notebook ram and upgrade it can you?

I have a major problem Britishdude! My Alieanware M17X wIll not boot up. I took out the battery and and unplugged the cord. connected the cord back (no battery) and held start up button for 30 sec. w/ no success. Even started laptop with Battery no cord and still nothing. Have not done anything to Laptop since it 1st was unpacked. All I get is a black screen at starup with keyboard lighted. I don't even get a flicker on the display when I try rebooting. tried Fn +B, Kept pressing F6, F7,F8.HELP!
Have the Laptop a Sim-Card-Slot? Or is there an Option to install one of them ?

@Hypocamparis Yes the laptop does have a factory installed sim card slot.

waoh, If I were you I'd where a static wrist band to prevent shock between you and the components! D:

@yum499 it's really not a big risk as long as you're not standing on a carpet or wearing large amounts of clothing. Grounding yourself once before starting is good enough.
If you're working on a customer's computer on the other hand, then you want to take every possible precaution against freak accidents, but if you know what your doing you can be sufficiently comfortable with doing it without a wristband.

Also, could my harddrive be responsible?
Alsax1985 1 year ago
@Alsax1985 I doubt it's the hard drive. A bad HDD would be causing different problems. If one of the cards is bad, you could try removing the slave and seeing if the problem improves. While your at it try reseating both cards as well in the slot. Are you sure you had it in SLI to begin with? You have to activate SLI in the nvidia control panel. If you never did that then maybe SLI was never running.
