We rode at midnight on the Cimarron
Along the banks of freedom just before the flood
In camp we whispered by the fire
Of things we'd never shared despite how far we'd come
Be the one, let me take you in the morning sun
Say you will, only then will my wild heart be still
At dawn the cavalry rode hard across the ridge
The captain he was out in front, hatred in his eye
I let my arrow arrow fly, I felt his bullet's sting
We lay there in the dust to die, and I began to sing
Be the one, let me take you in the morning, son
Say you will, only then will my wild heart be still

Nice, Bruce. I envy you your songcraft.

A very pretty song, with a kind of haunting quality. I especially like the second verse. I even gave it a quick sing through picking my uke. Of course I screwed it up, but it's a great song to get lost in.
