After the Giants defeated the Patriots, a bunch of us headed over to Times Square. When my friend Vic suggested I hypnotize someone in the crowd, I approached a complete stranger and within a few moments I had hypnotized him in the middle of Times Square, during the Super Bowl XLII celebration.

Special thanks to the volunteer for agreeing to let us film this and to my friend Vic who not only encouraged me to do it, but also recorded it. Nice job!

For those learning hypnosis notice the following:
--Use of a yes set
--Body language
--Development of rapport
--Changes in the volunteer's focus of attention and body motion

NOTE:
My interaction with the volunteer--from first meeting him to first hypnotizing him--is shown here in real time (no time lapse). The angle/orientation changes were done while the camera was rolling, without pause.

CAVEAT:
Hypnosis can seem harmless. However, the danger of hypnosis (specifically recreational hypnosis) lies in not properly learning suggestion formation and the effects of hypnosis, being sloppy with suggestions (not knowing what to avoid doing), and not following strict ethics—to name just a few things.

Please be careful. Learn hypnosis ethics, safety and proper execution before you attempt to hypnotize anyone.

  • did you get in trouble when you did this because i saw a police officer.

  • There were 3 police officers. They were concerned because they thought the person I hypnotized had fallen. But, there was no trouble.

  • I am teaching a rapid induction class on May 3, 2008. Check out my new website (launched on February 29, 2008 as promised) for further information go to:

    ParadoxHypnosis(dot)com

At my website, you can also join my newsletter, where you can submit hypnosis questions and be immediately notified of classes, hypnosis tips and news.

  • i have another question, whenever you make them forget a number or their name, you eventually tell them it again right?like they dont go around not knowing the number 4 ever right? and can hypnosis like help me for example get more focused to get all my homework and reports done instead of constant procrastination?

  • You should always formally remove suggestions that could potentially cause trouble. It's unlikely that a person would permanently forget certain types of information. However, depending on the volunteer, how the suggestion is formed and how the suggestion is received, recreational suggestions that are not properly removed could cause problems, by lasting extensively longer than most would expect.

Yes, hypnosis can help you focus on homework and minimize procrastination (Cont'd below).

  • The more you are hypnotized (properly), the more you strengthen your ability to concentrate. With proper suggestions and anchoring, a hypnotist can easily help you increase your focus on various tasks including (but not limited to) studying, sports performance and memorization.

  • Damn, it looked like KC was getting flooded with chicks after it was over. Must have been a fun night.

  • By any chance you will be posting more video from this "session"?

  • Thanks!

  • On your website... do you intend on also giving online lessons? I've been having trouble with rapid induction methods so far... and i hope to learn it sometime.
