They did. Its called " Revenge of Death Adder". Beat'm' up style games were going out of style so SEGA tried to find something else to do with the series. It was never brought out of Japan so this didn't get much attention.

remembers me a lot of the neogeo's double dragon
it would be better if sega made it the way the earlier golden axes was, something near to guardian heroes, but without the 3 "backgrounds" thing
