This is so surreal. And it proves the fact that the East was gray. And yep, it's former East Berlin, not West. But thanks for the video!

Even though it was the East there are still some Western cars here...

The contrast between 1990 and 2005 was very dramatic, what with the pavement cafes and the shops.

But I was hioping that the trams would have doors on both sides so that passengers could board / alight from the central reservation under the U-Bahn rather than by walking out into what is now a very busy road.

Much safer!

Ich bin da nicht selten langgefahren, nachdem der Eiserne Vorhang weg war. Aber daß es damals so ausgesehen hat... Ist verdammt lange her! 1990 war ich 9 Jahre alt. Cooles Vid!

das ist aber selbst heute noch so. ich war oft in berlin und wunderte mich immer wieder, wo die bewohner sind. beim alexanderplatz ist alles voll, doch geht man 5min richtung friedrichshain oder senefelderplatz, sind die straßen oft menschenleer. auch in der karl marx allee... bis zum strausbergerplatz (oder wie der heißt) sieht man oft minutenlang keine menschen.
