Cool exploit that's not technically cheating: find an extra mycon egg fragment besides the one you need for the plot, then fill your ship with expanded fuel modules but only get enough fuel to reach the Druuge. Trade the fragment for having your fuel tanks topped off and the Druuge will get super pissed and you'll be able to sell the surplus fuel for enough RUs to get through the game. Plus there's some funny dialogue from the Druuge after you make the trade.

the dos version, you can download the patch if you search for it on google. The 3do version had the glitch removed

once you get to the Melnorme trader, buy fuel for credits then immediately sell it for RU's. It is very efficient early on.

The game is easy without the trick.
At the beginning, go to Alpha Centauri...get heaps of RU from there.
Cheating sucks.
