Here we use an inexpensive right angle drill add-on attachment to our standard hand drill (a compact Sioux pneumatic drill). The angle drill uses threaded shank drill bits. We recommend the "short" and not the "stub" bits for most applications.
This angle drill is the Tight Fit Right Angle Drill Attachment that we purchased from McMaster Carr for under $50 (including the short threaded shank drills: #40, 30, 20 and 12).
