This video will tell you briefly how to install blackberry os 2.0 beta on the blackberry playbook tablet. This is not really a beta because it works perfectly in my opinion. The reason you would want to update to 2.0 beta is because this will allow you to root your playbook device and later, install android market and launcher on it for android apps. (will be uploading another video with that tutorial)
Instructions:
Requirements- Blackberry Playbook, Blackberry Desktop Manager, About 2 Hours of Free time
1) First, make sure your blackberry is connected to the computer via usb and is synced in with the Blackberry Desktop Manager
2) Go to this link:
https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/beta/bbtablet20/register/
and register your blackberry playbook device by inputting the pin number and an email address connected towards your blackberry account (This will register your device to be open to update directly to 2.0 beta)
The Pin number is located in the settings menu of your tablet, in the about section, then go to hardware. Should be a 8 digit pin code
3) Once you have completed the registration, it will say "Thank You" Now you can exit the web browser
4) Close Blackberry Desktop manager and disconnect your playbook
5) Now connect your playbook back to your computer and open desktop manager again
6) Wait until your device is fully synced and a pop up windows should come up regarding an update available for your tablet to OS 2.0
7) Follow the process and once everything is complete, you should be running OS 2.0 Beta smoothly.
This will be the first step towards installing android os. I will be posting a video of android launcher for the playbook during this week. Hope this helped and if you have any questions or concerns regarding difficulty in the process, let me know.
Thanks to all!

can you use all the apps that come with the playbook os 2.0 beta? Or are you just limited to testing android apps?

Ak47minimouse. Is the playbook good?
mikeyduncanxx1 1 month ago
@mikeyduncanxx1 I would say that the playbook is alright. I dont find it to be amazing because I feel first of all, it is too heavy with too small of a screen. For some people, 7 inches is perfect but with all that weight I cant handle it. The android is somewhat good on the playbook but it may be better after the official 2.0 os release in feburary. For 200 bucks, heck its a bargain but I did not find much use for it. Good things include a great camera, front and rear, great screen quality.

Is the blackberry device manager program the same thing as the desktop manager software, or are they different?

@228SomeGuy Its the same thing. Just the software used to sync your blackberry to the computer. Thanks for clarifying this!
