2 Alarm Fire Damages Three North Sacramento Homes

Sacramento- a two alarm fire destroyed one home and severely damaged two others in a North Sacramento neighborhood near Grant High School. The fire was reported as a grass fire at 1:51 P.M. and enroute, Fire Dispatchers received additional calls that at least one house was on fire. They dispatched a full structure fire assignment.

Sacramento Fire Department Engine 17 arrived in 4 ½ minutes and reported heavy fire in a two story home that had spread to the two adjacent homes. A second alarm was requested. Firefighters immediately began an attack and search on all three homes. Fortunately all occupants were already outside and accounted for.

Firefighters had to evacuate the inside and the roof of the two-story home, as conditions were not safe. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from completely destroying the two next door homes, but they did have serious fire damage. One Sacramento Firefighter suffered a minor injury to his ankle after he had to run after a woman who ran back inside one of the homes looking for her mother. Her mother was already out of the home, but not before she suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation. She was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK.




There were a total of 6 adults and 2 children that were going to be left homeless. Firefighters from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District also responded. The fire is currently under investigation by Sacramento Fire Department Investigators.
