Hey there I'm designing a new layout and was woundering is it better to use fast track or any variation or is code 83 or 100 just as good? great layout by the way!

By 'fast track' I assume you mean Set Track, or something similar with the moulded roadbed included as part of the track piece?
I would recommend using Flexi track rather than track pieces that are set to a particular shape (HO code 83 or 100 will do, but if you want more realism you might consider code 83). The layout featured in the video series uses mostly flexitrack, except for a few pieces of 18 inch radius curve.
Thanks for your comment.

Nice looking yard scene. Good modeling. I think your cars need weights.

I think you are right about not quite enough weight in my cars. They are IHC cars, and also have slightly larger wheel flanges too which I think is part of the problem.
Thanks for your comment.

I have designed a number of layouts over the years. What sort of layout design were you looking for?
