My winter hike up Mt Leconte on February 26, 2010
This is the Alum Cave Trail route up Mt Leconte, possibly the best and most scenic route up. From the rivers edge, the the cave bluffs, the ridge top views, and to the panoramic summits, Mt Leconte should always be on the hiker's to do list. On this day, much of the summit was covered in snow, and without snowshoes, made the trek to the two summits quite challenging. After one summit, I was beat.
Sorry for the humming noise. I think some moisture got into the camera and caused the noise. As promised in the video, a picture of the south summit can be viewed here: http://www.summitpost.org/image/373923/True-Summit-of-Leconte.html
Nice video! The top of Rainbow falls trail to the lodge is absolutely outstanding in the winter. Beautiful.

Nice video...but the trail is pronounced "Allum", not "A-loom". And the mountain is not "Lecont-ie", but with a silent "e". But some great shots.

Now you've got me wanting to hike in the Smokies! How did you choose Le Conte?
Also, do you know if there are any good online hiking communities for the Smokes, similar to HikeADKS [dot] com for the Adirondacks?
